This is the basic wording that you should see on your automobile insurance policy. After each one of these headings you will see Dollar Figures accompanied by words like Each Person and Each Accident. These numbers represent the maximum amount in Dollars that you are covered for in any give circumstance. Let us cover a few things that could go wrong by being underinsured. Property Damage Liability; covers your vehicle when it is wrecked or stolen. For an example lets say that you have $25,000 coverage and your vehicle is worth $38,000 and you car is stolen. You won't have enough coverage and you will end up owing the difference. Bodily Injury; lets say you only have $25,000 worth of coverage and the person that was injured requires $75,000 in medical treatment. Guess who will be sued for the difference? You These are but just a few of the situations that could arise if you are underinsured. Each state has different requirements for the minimum amount of coverage you need to drive a motor vehicle in that state. We suggest that you review your insurance policy with your agent to make sure you have adequate coverage to protect you and your family. |
